Online Conference: Transitions to School

We know that traveling for in-person events isn’t always possible - so we’re bringing the event to you!

Join us for an online event, designed specifically for West and South Yorkshire Early Years Educators who are supporting children to prepare for the next big step into school!

Expert keynotes and collaborative discussions focused on emotional resilience, early literacy and numeracy, behaviour and self-regulation, and strengthening the home:setting and home:school partnerships.

Whether you're new to the field or an experienced practitioner, the session aims to provide fresh insights, proven strategies, and resources to help every child thrive during this crucial transition. Let’s work together to ensure our youngest learners are confident, capable, and school-ready!

Join Parenting Expert Sue Atkins for a practical, uplifting Power Hour exploring how early years practitioners can confidently support parents during the transition to school. Gain practical strategies, empowering language, and access to Sue’s new Parents Script Bank — designed to ease anxieties and strengthen parent-practitioner partnerships.

Dr Megan Wood draws on her research using large-scale, linked datasets to explore how early indicators of school readiness can shape children’s later outcomes in education, health, and wellbeing. The session will highlight how we can use school readiness data as a way of identifying pupils at increased risk of poor outcomes, including persistent absenteeism, unmet Special Educational Needs, and even being Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEET) at age 16. Attendees will gain insight into how data can be used to inform better policy and practice for supporting children and families from the very start of their school journey.
