Child-Led Book

Practitioners will be trained to deliver sessions to target children which provide opportunities for collaborative exploratory and dialogic talk and sustained shared thinking. This will happen through an initial training session and follow up training. The Child-Led Book Talk sessions use high-quality picture books and other texts to provide an opportunity for the children and staff member to engage in dialogic talk. Practitioners will be trained to use evidence-informed strategies to support children’s oral language development, including recasting, expansion, and joint attention. Implementation of the ShREC approach will also be explored to ensure interactions between the practitioner and children are of high-quality.
