In this blog, Sinead shares an example of how Castle Vale Nursery School in Birmingham teach the skills needed for mark-making in their two-year-old provision.

"We recognise the importance of physical development as one of the prime areas of learning. It's also important because it enables children to access the wider curriculum. Finding opportunities to prioritise physical development will enable them to develop the skills they need to carry out day-to-day tasks such as independently dressing, eating and drinking. The children will also be developing the skills and the muscles they need for writing when they are older." — Leanne, Early Years Educator, Castle Vale Nursery School
