World Prematurity Month Special: Supporting Premature Babies in the Early Years (12:30)

REGISTER

This special World Prematurity Month session with The Smallest Things premature baby charity will explore the lasting impact of premature birth and the ongoing journey for families after leaving neonatal intensive care. Parents recovering from the trauma of neonatal care are at significantly higher risk of mental health difficulties, with potential long-term consequences for both them and their baby. Children born prematurely often have complex and/or ongoing needs, including frequent hospital readmissions, respiratory and feeding challenges, difficulties reaching developmental milestones and lasting learning needs. This session will share the latest research, practical resources, and explore how services and practitioners can ensure children born prematurely receive the best start in life by providing families with the right support and information at the right time.
