Our Wednesday webinars make research clear and bring it to life in your everyday practice.
Our monthly Wednesday Webinars give us the opportunity to hear about research and to show how we can use it in our daily practice.
The webinars can help us to develop our high-quality interactions with children, both those who are verbal and non-verbal.
We’d love more childminders to come along and tell us what you think.
About the webinars
The very term ‘research’ can be off-putting for many of us, our immediate response being that we don’t have time to make sense of it for our work. Our Wednesday webinars aim to change this.
We focus on making research accessible and showing how we can use it in various early years settings and contexts. We want our webinars to give everyone the opportunity to use research evidence and offer young children the best start in life.
At each webinar we provide you with a supply of video clips, guides and further reading that will help you apply what you have learned and share it with others.
Our last webinar – significant for all educators in the early years
Professor Jenny Gibson from the Pedal Hub at the University of Cambridge shared her research on play, neurodiversity and language development. She was an engaging speaker, making us realise how relevant her research is.
Jenny illustrated her research findings with lots of practical examples, including showing a video of how a practitioner applied them in her group setting during snack time.
Access to the Padlet
You’ll get a link to the Wednesday Webinar Padlet; this is an online noticeboard where we put all the video clips and documents for you to find easily.
The Padlet contains a range of video clips and has useful prompts and questions to help you think about putting the research ideas into practice with colleagues in your childminder networks. Everything is in one place, easy to access and use - take a look here.
This will help you reflect, follow up areas of interest, and deepen your understanding of the children you work with.
In all …
At our Wednesday Webinars:
You listen to the research,
you watch it in action,
you delve deeper
you plan for changes that will have the most impact on the children
It would be wonderful if you could join us in conversation at the next SPH Wednesday Webinar. You can register here and we’ll send you all the information.
