Early Years Learning Leads - PSED Sessions

Children’s personal, social and emotional development is crucial for them to lead healthy and happy lives, and is fundamental to their cognitive development. Though PSED is a separate prime area in the EYFS, it is a foundation that underpins and connects all prime and specific areas and the entire experience for children in your setting. Research tells us that developing high-quality provision for PSED within a setting has the greatest impact on the most vulnerable children.

To support practitioners the government has launched new fully funded CPD training opportunities specifically aimed at the Early Years.

To attend any of the CPD Training Programmes, you must already hold a relevant Level 3 qualification in childcare.

The PSED CPD training for 2–4-year-olds comprises a mixture of e-learning modules and taught webinars delivered over 6 weeks. Led by Carole Jacques, this programme will guide you through a reflective, evidence informed process to help you select, adapt and embed evidence informed approaches and interventions to support PSED development within your setting. After an initial welcoming session, each week you will be required to complete a 2-hour e-learning module and attend a 90-minute taught webinar, via Microsoft Teams. The final session of each cohort will be in person to promote networking and sharing of practice.

Between Autumn 2026 and Spring 2028, 1 cohort will be offered per term at a variety of times and weekdays to suit all practitioners working with 2–4-year-olds. These programmes are being offered across Norfolk and Suffolk on different days and times, so please choose the cohort that will be most suitable for you.
