SEND Network: An Introduction to Gestalt Language Processing

SEND Network: Gestalt Language Processing

Join us for this two-part online SEND Network event exploring Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) and how we can better understand and support children who communicate through echolalia.

Designed for early years practitioners, the sessions will provide practical insight into what echolalia is, what children may be communicating through it, and how adults can respond in ways that support the development of spontaneous spoken language.

Session 1 will introduce Gestalt Language Processing, exploring echolalia and how it can be understood as meaningful communication. We'll also look at Natural Language Acquisition and how this provides a roadmap for supporting echolalic children as their language develops.

Thursday 12th November (Choose either 10am or 6pm)

Session 2 will take a closer look at the six stages of Natural Language Acquisition. You'll learn how to recognise where a child may be in their language development and consider practical strategies you can take back to your setting - helping to make sure every child receives the understanding and support they need to communicate, participate and thrive.

Thursday 26th November (attend the same time as your Session 1 booking)

Please note: this is a two-part event. Attendance at Session 1 is essential before joining Session 2.
