Flourishing Children Matter: Evidencing the Eudaemonic Through Praxeological Research
Professor Chris Pascal
The ongoing crises of pandemic, poverty and inequality means the wellbeing and fulfilment of many young children are severely compromised. This webinar will promote the value of practitioner and practice-based inquiry in providing robust and ethical evidence about daily pedagogic processes and practices that secure children’s wellbeing and fulfilment. We recognise that informed practitioners sit at the heart of securing these goals by providing children with the conditions for their flourishing. These enabling ‘process’ variables also lead to the Aristotelian concept of ‘Eudaemonia’. We believe practitioners should be recognised for their complex and concrete real-world knowledge and their shared, acquired reflections, wisdom, and expertise should be feeding into our sector’s evidence base more visibly. We hope that this webinar will inspire and empower practitioner colleagues to become more than consumers of evidence but become more active in knowledge generation. Drawing on the experience of a current CREC Froebelian inspired project, the webinar will demonstrate that practitioners can use systematic and rigorous real world, qualitative methodologies to evidence excellence in practice and identify those pedagogic processes that encourage our children to flourish, thrive and live with greater fulfilment and wellbeing.
